Well, I’ve been waiting long enough. It’s high time I actually start a blog. I nearly started one back in 2004 but decided against it. Right now I run 4 other blogs, but all of them are related to work or education. Now I can finally have a blog where I can rant and rave on just about anything I want.
Why start a blog today? Well, I turned 31 today and took part of the day off. I got a couple of hours or work done, then went to a nice lunch and decided that I would spend part of the afternoon starting up my own blog.
So what’s this blog going to be about? Well, I’ve decided the name of my blog (and theme) will be “Brads Theories” I have registered the domain name and now I am ready to go… so look for me to pontificate on a variety of different topics from random facts about nothing, to sports, religion, restaurants, school, politics, etc. Of course, I will always have some sort of theory to start every post…. and consider yourself forewarned… punctuation is not my forte… I tend to use the ellipsis (dot-dot-dot) more than I should.
Finally of note… I have decided to monetize my blog right from the beginning… that’s right… you’ll see advertisements on the side columns. Here’s why… I am a big fan of Google and the services they provide. I own a small marketing company http://www.superfastmarketing.com/ and one of the core things my business does is sell Google advertisements. Because I deal with Google every day I am very aware of their services and strategy. Just in case you don’t know… Google provides their services for free and funds them through advertising. What I like best is that Google helped pioneered the idea of sharing ad revenues with the little guy. This revenue sharing philosophy has helped turned the Internet into what it is today and makes it possible for Google to provide such wonderful services as Google Earth, Google Maps, and even Blogger.
Now I realize that not many people will see this blog and I will likely only get a few dollars (if any) by posting ads off to the side. Still, I am a big believer in content-driven advertisements and often find myself clicking on them to explore different companies and services…. they often take you to a whole different part of the web that you’ve never been to before. So at the end of the day, I believe it’s entirely worth it to clutter up the side column of my blog with advertisements. Enjoy.
